There is a majesty to be seen in this antlered elk. Alone on a snowy ridge, it gazes out into the horizon. It is as if a king were surveying his own kingdom. He wears a rack of bone like a crown to designate his dominion over all that is seen. The sun sits center on this royal headpiece as a jewel would be placed on regalia made by more lowly hands. He lords supreme and has fully embodied Spirit of the North. I have seen such wondrous animals on many of my personal trips to the varied wildlands that still exist.
